An interview with my whale scientist brother from Happywhale

About Tara

For my entire life, I have been fascinated by mermaid mythology and have surrounded myself with beautiful mermaid art. In the last few years, both of my parents died in an extremely tragic four month time period, which left me bereft. Fortunately, I live on the gorgeous island of Kaua’i, Hawaii and decided to immerse myself in the soothing waters to heal my broken heart. I was introduced to the joy of mermaiding by the lovely Mermaid Aqualina on Maui and was immediately hooked! Embracing my mermaid self has helped to process the trauma and I am inspired to share the mermaid magic with you!

I am a Padi Certified Advanced Mermaid, freediver and avid ocean lover.

More than anything, I love to share the contagious joy of being a mermaid with others. It is such a wonderful feeling to see the childlike bliss that people of all ages experience when experiencing wearing a tail!

When I am not wearing a tail, you can find me writing books (check out my author page), helping out others on the cancer healing path (see my health page) or practicing Equine Facilitated Learning (Wind Horse Sanctuary) with my horses on Kaua’i, Hawaii.

The root of the word mermaid means ‘servant of the ocean’ and I am deeply committed to being a steward for our vast and incredible seas.

My latest book is ‘Kaimana the Hawaiian Mermaid’ which is an ocean conservation children’s book based in Kaua’i about a true story about a sperm whale and a courageous Hawaiian Mermaid who starts a crusade to create a healthier future for all of humanity! Proceeds from the sale of each book go to support my brother’s organization Happywhale, for scientific research about whales to support a healthy future habitat for whales and their oceanic environment.

Please see my video interview with my whale scientist brother, Ted Cheeseman from Happywhale to learn about whales, their behavior, songs, migration and why it’s vitally important for them to have a healthy ocean ecosystem for them to survive. (on the right)
